I am Georgina Kéri, Clinical Psychologist.

I completed my psychology MA diploma in 2011 at Károli Gáspár University, Budapest in the field of clinical and health psychology. I received my clinical psychology licence in 2015 at the University of Pécs. From 2011 I worked at the acute psychiatry department of Dél-pesti Hospital. Here I mainly worked with major psychiatric patients. My job included psychodiagnostics and individual and group treatment of various inpatient groups, eg. anxiety, mood and personality disorders, as well as transient psychotic states and schizophrenia. In 2015 I left my clinical job for a private practice (Avomed Psychological Centre), where I continued working with adults. Here I gained more experience in treating less severe anxiety and mood disorders, and problems concerning relationships or the self and general psychological well-being. Now, I continue working with adults in my private practice.

Problems that might make you consider visiting a psychologist:

  • Sypmtoms of anxiety or depression
  • Problems with decision-making, crises, burn-out
  • Stress or anger management issues
  • Relationship problems
  • Losses or mourning
  • Psychosomatic problems
  • Supportive therapy of a diagnosed psychiatric disease – maybe as a complementary to psychopharmacological treatment
  • Lack of self-confidence, need for deeper self-knowledge

    What you can expect

The first few (1-3) sessions are primarily used to gather information about the problem, and circumscribe the possible goal of the sessions to follow. Psychodiagnostic testing might take place in this first part of the treatment, if necessary. At the end, we decide whether the client wants to engage in therapy, and if so, what the setting and the boundaries are going to be. Whether we decide on counselling, short, or long-term therapy, I use a psychoanalytically oriented approach in my work. It means that the interventions are based on the psychoanalytic approach, which emphasizes the effect of previous experiences on actual reactions, as well as the connection and interactions taking place during the sessions between patient and therapist. A session lasts for 50 minutes and the fee for a session in English is 10.000 HUF.
